Professor Ruha Benjamin will be visiting BFIS in March and giving a talk/discussion entitled
"Who Owns the Future? Rethinking Technology, Reimagining Society".
Ruha Benjamin is Professor of African American Studies at Princeton University, founding director of the Ida B. Wells Just Data Lab, and award-winning author of Race After Technology (2019), Viral Justice (2022), and Imagination: A Manifesto (2024). Ruha is the recipient of fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies, National Science Foundation, President’s Award for Distinguished Teaching at Princeton, and most recently the MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Fellowship. Backstory Bookshop has set up a sales page for anyone in the BFIS community who wishes to order any of Ruha's books in advance of this event. If you place an order by March 17th, the books will be delivered to the BFIS campus before Ruha's visit, and she will happily sign them for you after her talk!
